In 1980, Norway celebrated the 250th anniversary of the introduction of compulsory elementary education. From the beginning of the twentieth century, education in Norway was recogniced as a way of reducing injustice in society. This is a book about the change in eduction; specifically about changes in conseption of equity, manifested over the last two decades in the ideological shift from an "equity through equality" perspective to one of "equity through diversity".
