This book deals with communication and ethics in the field of medicine and health care. The author addresses communicative and ethical challenges in patient interaction on the basis of assumptions in modern moral philosophy and philosophy of language. The book is suitable for use in all higher-level courses where the aim is to give students a theoretical understanding of ethical dilemmas and communicative challenges in health care. Halvor Nordby is Professor of Philosophy at the University College of Lillehammer, and is also working at the Department of Health Management and Health Economics, University of Oslo. He received a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Oxford in 2001. Nordby has published several books and numerous articles within medicine and philosophy of mind and language.
